JEFFERSON CITY, MO. — This is an official press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (USAO - Missouri, Western), published as received.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A St. Louis, Mo., man appeared in federal court today before Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge Willie J. Epps, Jr. on a complaint alleging that he possessed a firearm after a prior felony conviction.

According to the affidavit filed in support of the complaint, Iseah Christopher Jackson, 23, was identified by law enforcement as having been present during a shooting in the area of Ninth Street and Walnut Street in Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026. Later that day, a traffic stop was conducted on his vehicle and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun was found in his glove compartment. Jackson also had a single round of 9mm ammunition in his pocket at the time of his arrest. The affidavit notes that Jackson was previously convicted of two counts of involuntary manslaughter arising out of his involvement in a shooting resulting in the death of two individuals. Due to these prior felony convictions, Jackson is not permitted to possess a firearm.

The charges contained in the complaint are accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must eventually be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren E. Kummerer. It was investigated by the Columbia Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Project Safe Neighborhoods

Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) is the Department of Justice’s nationwide initiative that brings federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement, prosecutors, and other public safety partners together to coordinate efforts to combat violent crime and make communities safe. Coordinated by U.S. Attorneys’ offices in each of the 94 federal districts, PSN is tailored to particular communities to strategically address specific violent crime and public safety challenges. As a key component of Operation Take Back America, PSN serves a central role in the Department’s commitment to make our country safe. PSN emphasizes three core principles: rapid federal response to violent crime and criminal offenders; strong, strategic partnerships among law enforcement at all levels; and accountability and deterrence through the prosecution of the most serious, readily provable offenses and other strategies. These efforts complement and strengthen President Trump’s Homeland Security Task Forces, ensuring a comprehensive federal response to the most pressing public safety issues facing communities.
