CAMDEN, N.J. — This is an official press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (USAO - New Jersey), published as received.

CAMDEN, N.J. – A Pennsylvania man admitted to committing an armed bank robbery in Voorhees, New Jersey, U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer announced.

Phu Nguyen, 36, of Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, pled guilty yesterday to armed bank robbery before U.S. District Court Chief Judge Renée Marie Bumb in Camden federal court.  According to statements made in court and documents filed in the case, on June 27, 2025, Nguyen entered the Bank of Princeton in Voorhees, New Jersey wearing all black clothing and a facemask.  Nguyen approached a bank teller and handed her a demand note stating, “This is a robbery.  Give me all 100’s, $50,000, I have a gun.”  After reading the note, the teller gave Nguyen $1,760 in cash.  Nguyen then approached another bank employee and told her to open another cash drawer.  Nguyen lifted his shirt and displayed a black handgun in his waistband.  Nguyen then fled the bank.  Chief Judge Bumb scheduled sentencing for March 10, 2027.

The charge of armed bank robbery has a maximum penalty of 25 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and a term of five years of supervised release.

U.S. Attorney Frazer credited special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Philadelphia Field Office, South Jersey Resident Agency, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Wayne Jacobs, with the investigation.  U.S. Attorney Frazer also thanked the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, under the leadership of Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay, for its invaluable assistance in this case.

The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joseph McFarlane and Helen Park in Camden.
