TOPEKA, KAN. — This is an official press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (USAO - Kansas), published as received.

TOPEKA, KAN. – An illegal alien from Mexico who has been deported six times was sentenced to 108 months in prison for returning to the United States without permission.

According to court documents, Ysidoro Martinez-Arguello, 57, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry after deportation.

Martinez-Arguello was deported from the United States three times in 2010 and again in 2015, 2016, and 2023, and had been convicted and incarcerated seven times on charges related to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs between 1993 and 2018.

Martinez-Arguello came to the attention of law enforcement after being involved in a fatality traffic accident in Manhattan, Kansas, in August of 2025, which did not involve alcohol or drugs.

“As Judge Tony Mattivi stated at sentencing in this matter, more lenient sentences have tried and failed for Mr. Martinez-Arguello,” said U.S. Attorney Ryan A. Kriegshauser. “With his numerous offenses, removal alone will not keep the public safe given Mr. Martinez-Arguello’s numerous re-entries after deportation and other crimes. Illegal aliens who ignore our laws and harm our communities will be prosecuted before they are removed.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) investigated the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Duston Slinkard prosecuted the case.
