CINCINNATI — This is an official press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (USAO - Ohio, Southern), published as received.

CINCINNATI – In keeping with past practice, United States Attorney Dominick S. Gerace II announced today that he has designated Election Officers in each of the District’s three offices to serve as points of contact for the upcoming election.

“The Department of Justice plays an important role in ensuring that our elections are free and fair,” said Gerace. “My Office will always work to protect the integrity of the election process.”

U.S. Attorney Gerace appointed:

  • Deputy Criminal Chief Emily N. Glatfelter in Cincinnati;
  • Assistant United States Attorney Peter K. Glenn-Applegate in Columbus; and
  • Deputy Criminal Chief Brent G. Tabacchi in Dayton.

As District Election Officers, they are responsible for overseeing the District’s handling of complaints of election fraud and voting rights concerns in consultation with the Justice Department’s Headquarters in Washington.

The Department's long-standing Election Day Program seeks to ensure public confidence in the integrity of the election process by providing local contacts for the public to report possible election fraud and voting rights violations.

Federal law protects against such crimes as non-citizen voting, intimidating or bribing voters, buying and selling votes, impersonating voters, altering vote tallies, stuffing ballot boxes, and marking ballots for voters against their wishes or without their input. It also contains special protections for the rights of voters and provides that they can vote free from acts that intimidate or harass them.

The local FBI field office can be reached by the public regarding allegations of election fraud and other election abuses at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

Complaints about possible violations of the federal voting rights laws can be made directly to the Civil Rights Division in Washington, DC by phone at 800-253-3931 or by complaint form at https://civilrights.justice.gov/.
