WASHINGTON — This is an official press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)), published as received.
WASHINGTON – Edward Allen Anderson, 40, a previously convicted “armed career criminal” residing in the District, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court to 135 months in prison in connection with illegally possessing a loaded firearm, a Glock Model 25 9mm pistol with an obliterated serial number that police found in the back of his car, announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
Anderson, aka “Man Man,” pleaded guilty July 2 before U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly to a single count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. In addition to the 135‑month prison term, Judge Kelly ordered Anderson to serve three years of supervised release.
According to court documents, on Sept. 15, 2023, Metropolitan Police Department officers observed a Volkswagen Touareg with Virginia tags parked in the 700 block of Otis Place NW. During a plain view check of vehicles on the block, an officer saw a firearm on the rear passenger floorboard of the Touareg.
Officers recovered a Glock Model 25 9mm handgun from the Touareg. The serial number had been scratched off or obliterated. The gun was loaded with one round in the chamber and 16 rounds in an extended magazine.
The vehicle was registered to Anderson, and officers found mail addressed to him inside. DNA analysis linked the firearm to Anderson.
Anderson was prohibited from possessing any firearm because he had previously been convicted of a drug felony punishable by more than one year in prison.
The investigation was conducted by the Metropolitan Police Department.
The matter was prosecuted under the Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful initiative by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nihar Mohanty.
Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful is a law enforcement initiative in support of President Trump’s Executive Order to crack down on gun violence, prioritize federal firearms violations, pursue tougher penalties, and seek detention for federal firearms violators.
