This is an official press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (USAO - Maryland), published as received.

Baltimore, Maryland – A Washington, DC man pled guilty in federal court, today, to charges stemming from his escape from a Baltimore correctional facility.

Lamont Antwan Warren, 46, pled guilty to escape from custody.

Kelly O. Hayes, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, announced the guilty plea with Clinton J. Fuchs, U.S. Marshal for the District of Maryland (USMS).

According to his guilty plea, in May 2025, while serving a five-year sentence for sex-abuse crimes, Warren escaped from a Baltimore Volunteer of America’s Residential Re-Entry Center (RRC). On May 22, authorities transferred Warren from a Waymart, Pennsylvania correctional facility to Baltimore to serve the remainder of his sentence in community housing. Additionally, due to relocating, Warren was required to register as a sex offender in Maryland within three days of his arrival.

One day after his transfer, RRC staff found Warren under the influence of an unknown drug. Law enforcement searched Warren and discovered unknown narcotics in his possession. RRC staff then attempted to require Warren to meet with his case worker. But instead, Warren ignored directives, refused to meet with his case worker, and then exited the facility.

Two minutes later, RRC staff received an alert that Warren tampered with his GPS monitor. Staff then discovered the device in the RRC’s parking lot. Before Warren escaped, he did not register as a sex offender. Then on June 25, 2025, authorities found and apprehended Warren in Washington, DC.

If convicted, Warren faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison for escape from custody. Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties.

A federal district court judge determines sentencing after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

U.S. Attorney Hayes commended USMS for its work in the investigation. Ms. Hayes also thanked Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexandria A. Bell who is prosecuting the federal case.
