LAS VEGAS — This is an official press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (USAO - Nevada), published as received.

LAS VEGAS – A registered sex offender was sentenced today by United States District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey to 180 months in prison followed by 15 years of supervised release for distribution of child sexual abuse material over a social media network and possession of a collection of more than 600 images of child sexual abuse material. The government recommended 180 months in prison.

“This significant 15-year sentence ensures that a dangerous, repeat predator is taken off our streets and held fully accountable,” said First Assistant United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada. “Our office will remain relentless in our pursuit of those who traffic in and possess child sexual abuse material, and we will continue to use every tool at our disposal to protect the most vulnerable members of our community from exploitation and revictimization.”

“Behind every image is a real child who has been harmed, and today’s sentence proves this exploitation will not be tolerated,” said Special Agent in Charge Christopher S. Delzotto for the FBI Las Vegas Field Office. “The defendant admitted to amassing hundreds of horrific images of abused children and babies. The FBI and our partners will continue to deploy every resource to aggressively root out predators and hold them fully accountable.”

According to court documents, Daniel Roy Saringo admitted that on June 2, 2024, he distributed at least six files of child sexual abuse material across a social media platform. Additionally, he possessed over 600 images or videos of child sexual abuse material depicting sadistic or masochistic violence including victims as young as infants and toddlers. Saringo was previously convicted of statutory sexual seduction in Clark County, Nevada.

Saringo pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of children and one count of possession of child pornography. In addition to incarceration, Saringo will be required to pay restitution to his victims and to register as a sex offender in the place where he resides, where he is an employee, and where he is a student, under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).

The FBI investigated this case. Assistant United States Attorney Afroza Yeasmin prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorney’s Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
