LAS VEGAS — This is an official press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (USAO - Nevada), published as received.
LAS VEGAS – A Mexican national, with violent felony convictions, made his initial court appearance today to face charges of illegally reentering the United States after previously being removed from the country.
“Let’s be entirely clear: the United States is not a revolving door, and our borders are not a suggestion box for violent criminals,” said First Assistant United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada. “If you are formally deported from this country, your time here is done. If you choose to repeatedly disregard our laws, sneak back across the border, and bring a history of violent felony convictions with you, you are no longer just an immigration issue, you are an active threat to public safety. The days of treating federal law as a minor inconvenience are over. When you choose to reenter unlawfully with that kind of criminal history, you aren't just crossing a line; you are guaranteeing yourself a guaranteed, one-way ticket straight to a federal prison cell.”
Manuel Seberiano Garcia-Munoz is charged with one count of deported alien found in the United States. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 2, 2026, before United States Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Albregts.
According to allegations contained in the criminal complaint and statements made during court proceedings, Garcia-Munoz is a citizen and national of Mexico who was previously deported on or about June 12, 2024; October 24, 2024; July 15, 2025; and March 14, 2026, and reentered the United States illegally.
On September 21, 2026, North Las Vegas Police arrested Garcia-Munoz for Possession of a Document or Personal Identifying Information to Establish False Status and Domestic Battery with Deadly Weapon Resulting in Serious Bodily Harm. Because record checks indicated that Garcia-Munoz is a citizen of Mexico who was illegally present in the United States after previously being removed, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) sent an immigration detainer. On October 14, 2026, the City of Las Vegas Detention Center remanded Defendant to ICE custody in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Garcia-Munoz has prior felony convictions for Assault with a Deadly Weapon out of the Superior Court, Los Angeles, California, after he stabbed his girlfriend in the neck with a broken bottle, and Deported Alien found Unlawfully in the United States out of the United States District Court, Central District of California, the same offence he is currently charged with.
If convicted, Garcia-Munoz faces the maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in prison, a three-year term of supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment.
First Assistant United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada and Salt Lake City Field Office Director Jason Knight made the announcement.
The ICE Salt Lake City, Las Vegas Sub-Office investigated this case; and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada is prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
A complaint is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
