NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA — This is an official press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)), published as received.

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – BRYAN ROGERS (“ROGERS”), age 21, of New Orleans, was sentenced on September 30, 2026, by United States District Judge Greg G. Guidry, after previously pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(8), announced United States Attorney David I. Courcelle.

ROGERS was sentenced to 36 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, along with payment of a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

According to court documents, on May 18, 2025, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (“JPSO”) deputies encountered ROGERS during a traffic stop in Marrero, Louisiana. During the course of this traffic stop, law enforcement located a Glock Model 30 Gen4, .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol loaded with an extended magazine containing 20 rounds of ammunition under the front passenger seat of the vehicle ROGERS was operating at the time. The recovered firearm was previously reported as stolen to the New Orleans Police Department, according to court records. Through their investigation, law enforcement developed evidence establishing that ROGERS possessed the recovered firearm before JPSO initiated the traffic stop. ROGERS is a convicted felon and therefore federally prohibited from possessing firearms.

U.S. Attorney Courcelle praised the work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Shannon Kippers of the General Crimes Unit is in charge of the prosecution.

Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) is the Department of Justice’s nationwide initiative that brings federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement, prosecutors, and other public safety partners together to coordinate efforts to combat violent crime and make communities safe. Coordinated by U.S. Attorneys’ offices in each of the 94 federal districts, PSN is tailored to particular communities to strategically address specific violent crime and public safety challenges. As a key component of Operation Take Back America, PSN serves a central role in the Department’s commitment to make our country safe. PSN emphasizes three core principles: rapid federal response to violent crime and criminal offenders; strong, strategic partnerships among law enforcement at all levels; and accountability and deterrence through the prosecution of the most serious, readily provable offenses and other strategies. These efforts complement and strengthen President Trump’s Homeland Security Task Forces, ensuring a comprehensive federal response to the most pressing public safety issues facing communities.
