OXFORD, MS — This is an official press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)), published as received.

OXFORD, MS –   Law enforcement agencies came together in the Northern District of Mississippi to bring down a major firearm and drug trafficking organization. U.S. Attorney Scott Leary of the Northern District of Mississippi, ATF Special Agent in Charge Joshua Jackson and HSI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Matt Reidell made the announcement.

The following individuals were arrested:

  • Joshua Alexander, 30, of Greenville, Mississippi, has been charged with drug distribution.
  • Craig Baker, 60, of Tupelo, Mississippi, has been charged with drug distribution.
  • Trevion Bernard, 20, of Leland, Mississippi, has been charged with possession of a machinegun.

  • Marquez Palmer, 38, of Greenville, Mississippi, has been charged with drug distribution.
  • Dajuante Rancifer, 34, of Greenville, Mississippi, has been charged with drug distribution.

There were three separate operations that made up this HSTF effort. The coordinated enforcement actions resulted from ongoing investigations into two drug trafficking organizations operating in North Mississippi and an investigation into the importation and distribution of Glock-type conversion devices. If convicted, a federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

In addition to ATF and HSI, The U.S. Marshals Service, Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, Greenville Police Department and Tupelo Police Department provided invaluable assistance in these investigations and arrests.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Chad Doleac, John Herzog, Clyde McGee, Sam Stringfellow and Feleica Wilson are prosecuting the cases.

These arrests are part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative established by Executive Order 14159, Protecting the American People Against Invasion.  The HSTF is a whole-of-government partnership dedicated to eliminating criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations and human smuggling and trafficking rings operating tin the United States and abroad. Through historic interagency collaboration, the HSTF directs the full might of United States law enforcement towards identifying, investigating, and prosecuting the full spectrum of crimes committed by these organizations, which have long fueled violence and instability within our borders. In performing this work, the HSTF places special emphasis on investigating and prosecuting those engaged in child trafficking or other crimes involving children.  The HSTF further utilizes all available tools to prosecute and remove the most violent criminal aliens from the United States. HSTF Jackson comprises agents and officers from FBI, HSI, DEA, ICE ERO, CBP, CBP OFO, CBP USBP, CBP AMO, CGIS, ATF, USMS, IRS-CI, USPIS and with the prosecution being led by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi.

An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
